About

David J. Gordon (b. 1977) is an award-winning composer, educator, and performer based in New Jersey. He is skilled at writing music for performers ranging from beginner level through professional. His music is full of rhythmic energy and melodic inventiveness and is consistently engaging for both performers and audiences. He enjoys working directly with ensembles to craft music highlighting their strengths and talking with students about the compositional process.


David's works have been performed throughout the United States and in Europe, and he received multiple commissions including Montgomery High School (NJ), Auten Road Intermediate School (NJ), and baritone Sir Robert Violette. He has degrees in music from Yale University and the University of Texas at Austin, with additional studies at the Aspen Music Festival, the Hartt School of Music, and the American Conservatory of Fontainebleau (France). He a member of ASCAP and is published by Soundwave Music and Cimarron Music Press. Works are available from JW Pepper, Sheet Music Plus, or directly from the composer.
